Arbitage is buying and selling in different marketplaces and making a profit from the disparity between market prices.

London has a dedicated arbitrage desk of seven brokers. The purpose of this desk is to observe the movement in prices between cash, derivative and foreign exchange markets and to calculate arbitrage opportunities between these markets.

The desk in London is complimented by desks in New York and Tokyo working on similar opportunities in their time zones.
